PM Modi Expresses Deep Concern Over Gaza Humanitarian Crisis During Meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the US
The leadership of the Palestinian Authority Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas hold this meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his official visit to the United States where he met him in New York during the session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting was arranged on Sunday where Modi described his concern and anxiety over the human rights violation in the Gaza strip.

He summarized India’s determination to contribute towards ushering in order to overcome the growing unrest in the region. On X ( Twitter), Modi wrote, “Conveyed India’s stand to support the early return of peace and stability in the region. Discussed other possibilities of enhancing mutual relations with people in Palestine as a friendly country with which cooperation has been friendly since time immemorial. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal later sought to clarify some of Modi’s comments stating that they remain supportive of the Palestinian people.

This meeting has potential, following Hamas’ attack on October 7 that the Israeli-Arab relations further deteriorated to a standard war. Apart from the speech at the United Nations, Modi on his three days visit to US also gave speech at ‘Modi &US’ held at Long Island on Sunday afternoon and dedicated to Indian-Americans. India in general has always supported the concept of two states for two nations and peaceful negotiations as the healthy way towards the solution of the existing problem.
