PM Modi Meets US Vice President JD Vance in Paris, Discusses AI and Energy Cooperation, Attends Son Vivek’s Birthday Celebration
Prime Minister Narendra Modi organized a bilateral meeting with American vice -president JD Vance in Paris, the capital of France. Both leaders previously had a short interaction during dinner organized by French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday. Later on the day PM Modi also attended the birthday party of Vice President Vance’s son Vivek Vance.
Videos shared by DD News, nor showed that Modi and Vance were involved in discussions accompanied by officials of both nations. The second lady of the US, USha Chilukuri Vance was also present during the meeting, emphasizing strong diplomatic ties between India and the United States.
According to the White House, the discussion among leaders concerned key areas of interest, including cooperation in energy diversification. The US expressed its willingness to promote India in the transition towards clean and reliable nuclear energy technology. The meeting emphasized the growing energy partnership between the two nations, which reflected their commitment to a sustainable and safe energy solution.
After official interviews, PM Modi, Vice Vice and the other lady shared the occasional moment over the coffee. PM Modi took the opportunity to expand the warm wishes of Vivek Vance for his birthday and introduced gifts to children Vance. The White House recognized Modi’s gesture and emphasized the heart and friendly nature of engagement.

The meeting took place before the planned visit to PM Modi in the United States, where it is to meet US President Donald Trump in the White House. Modi’s meeting with Trump is expected to be among the first major orders of the US President since his return to the oval office. It is assumed that this visit will further strengthen India-US binding in multiple sectors, including technologies, trade and defense.
Before his meeting with Vice President Vance, PM Modi, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, chaired the summit AI. During the Modi Summit, he emphasized the need for global collective efforts to establish and regulatory frames for artificial intelligence (AI). He stressed how AI takes various aspects of life, including management, security and economic structures.
“A collective global effort to determine the management of public and standards that adhere to our shared values, solves the risks and confidence building,” he said during his address at the Modi Summit.

On the other hand, Vice President Vance expressed concern about the excessive AI regulations. He warned European leaders that strict regulations could suppress technological innovations and prevent progress in the AI sector. He also criticized the moderation of AI content and claimed that this could lead to authoritarian censorship. Vance also indirectly referred to China and warned against the dissemination of subsidized technology from authoritarian regimes.
“We firmly believe that AI must remain liberated from ideological bias and that American AI should not become an instrument for authoritarian censorship,” Vance said.
As global discussions on AI management are evolving, meetings between modi and Vance have reflected shared interests of India and the US in the use of AI for economic growth and ensured ethical and regulatory balance. Warm camaraderie during the birthday party further added a personal touch to diplomatic engagement and strengthened the strong relationship between the two nations.
