India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating Muhammad Yunus is at a time when Bangladesh’s forced out Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is visiting India. Subsequent to her resignation, the 76-year-old Awami League leader arrived by a chartered flight at one of the major airbases near Delhi on Monday, and has since been shifted to an undisclosed safe house under very high levels of security.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Hasina’s son, says that she will remain in Delhi for some time Hasina has rejected the media reports that she is set to seek asylum in the United States or the United Kingdom as mere rumours.
Our External Affairs Minister has already stated that permission was given at the last minute for former PM Sheikh Hasina to come to India. The scenario still remains unsteady as far as Bangladesh is concerned. Such measures seem to hinder the freedom of the foreign policy by insisting on other unacceptable ideas; When asked by the press, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “It would not be pertinent to discuss her plans.”
