Pastor Bajinder’s Crimes Stand Exposed: Kapurthala Victim Fights for Justice Despite Threats

These astonishing unearthings regarding self-proclaimed pastor Bajinder Singh have sent tremors across the country. Now, a Tuesday verdict sentencing him to life in jail for a 2018 rape case leaves the public’s eye on the second sexual harassment case, which happened to be filed against him in February 28 this year. Victim in this case, a 22-year-old woman from Kapurthala, expressed relief by saying that Bajinder has been openly uncovered; however, she is steadfast in her course of justice in spite of threats to her and her family.

The victim stated justice had been rendered in one case but even more survivors of Bajinder’s crimes had been expected to come forward now that his influence faded. “With this judgment, more victims will gain courage to share traumatic experiences at the hands of convicted pastor, who earlier silenced them with money and power,” she said. She further said that she would take her case to logical conclusion without being intimidated by these intimidation tactics.

Based on the statement of the victim, an FIR has been lodged at Kapurthala police against Bajinder under the provisions of Sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code. A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) Rajasthan, constituting Phagwara Superintendent of Police (SP) Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, is now investigating the matter. The SIT is analyzing forensic evidence, including that of the victim’s mobile phone, to corroborate the case. The complaint details how Bajinder allegedly sent inappropriate messages and harassed the woman physically multiple times since 2020.

On March 25, he was again booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attacking a man and woman inside the walls of his office, adding to the list of problems already loaded against him. A social media brigade formed almost instantly to keep the news lively. Therefore, among the legally pushed, Bajinder now might face Sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage modesty), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).

Eerie Silence at Tajpur Church

Meanwhile, an eerie silence has enveloped the Church of Glory and Wisdom at Tajpur in Jalandhar-a church that was once alive with a flock those who had importance for Bajinder. The church, which once was known to gather grand Sunday congregations and so-called “miracle healing” sessions, now stands deserted. Locals still remember how thousands used to rush in to get cured from paralysis to ‘evil spirits’.

Tajpur village, on Jalandhar-Nakodar Road, said, “It was always alive with visitors coming to see if the other would match them or do even better and hope for divine intervention.” This place was always full of activity, but today, it has stood deserted.

Despite the conviction, Bajinder’s influence goes beyond those boundaries and reaches to 22 centers across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Tripura, Haryana, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Odisha. His ministries also operate in other countries: the US, UK, Dubai, Mauritius, Malaysia, Australia, Israel, New Zealand, Fiji, and Rwanda. He has 3.75 million subscribers on YouTube alone.

His religious functions have also drawn Bollywood personalities, from Chunky Pandey to Jaya Prada, Arbaaz Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, and Aditya Pancholi, who have been part of his lavish Christian prayer meetings.

As the legal battle ensues, more and more victims are expected to disclose their accounts with a request for justice against a man who, until recently, wielded virtually unparalleled influence. While Bajinder’s empire crumbles, he now has to face justice while victim activation from survivors like the Kapurthala one goes to ensure that he pays for his crimes.
