How long can you run before your crime catches up? Well, apparently 18 years! After being on the run for 18 years, a man was held in Haryana for looting petrol pump.

What was the case and how was the accused caught?
Chinni alias Kulvinder Singh, now 41 years old, had looted over Rs 34,000 from a petrol pump in Bundi (under Sadar police station) in January 2005. After this, he had been on the run until he was recently caught in Jhajjar district of Haryana from a roadside Dhaba. The incident in 2005 was carried out with the help of four-five accomplices who had been arrested by the police and Chinni was the only one who had managed to escape and evade the law for so long.
The police team that had accomplished this feat was also awarded Rs. 24000 and constables of the Jhajjar district of Haryana were appreciated for their contribution and dedication that led to the nabbing of the accused.

The Interesting Events Leading Upto The Arrest of Chinni alias Kulvinder Singh
Chinni alias Kulvinder Singh had been living under a fake name and running a dhaba in Haryana for some time now. The police team disguised themselves as warehouse workers and kanwar yatris to identify the accused and ascertain that this was in fact the man they were looking for. Once they did that, the arrest was made and he was brought back to Bundi.
The police were able to do this with the help of informers, technical information, and phone tracking.
