Siddaramaiah and his ministers have accused the BJP-led central government of intentionally sabotaging the Congress administration’s ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme by withholding the required amount of rice from the Food Corporation of India. They claim that the Centre abruptly stopped the sale of wheat and rice to state governments, even after initially agreeing to provide a substantial quantity of rice to Karnataka at a fixed price.
Background:
Rice distribution has been a contentious issue in Karnataka, with allegations of politicization and selective targeting by various parties. The Chief Minister aims to address these concerns and promote a united approach towards ensuring food security and equitable distribution, regardless of political affiliations. He had said that the state has called for quotations from central government agencies like NCCF, NAFED, Kendriya Bhandar. “We will get to know tomorrow from them, once we get to know we will decide. There may be a slight delay in implementing the scheme as the central government has played politics.”
