Nepal Plane Crash Update – At the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu today, a Saurya Airlines plane carrying 19 people crashed during takeoff. The Saurya Airlines aircraft headed for Pokhara had at least 19 persons on board, including aircrew, when it had an accident at approximately 11 a.m., according to news agency PTI.

Reports from the local media indicate that eighteen bodies have been found thus far. Without providing more information, a security guard stationed at the airport informed PTI that the aircraft’s pilot had been transferred to a hospital. He also said that the fire that originated from the airplane had been extinguished. At the scene of the collision, rescue efforts are being conducted by police and firefighters. Information regarding the passengers’ conditions was unknown.

The accident’s cause is still a mystery. So far, all 18 of the crew members’ and passengers’ bodies have been found at the crash site. The aircraft’s pilot, that 37-year-old Captain Manish Shakya, was saved and sent to a Sinamangal hospital.

The aircraft crashed on takeoff after skidding off the runway, according to South Asia Time. Not long after the crash, the airplane caught fire. Security guards and firefighters are responding to the location to put out the fire and look for survivors.

A few technical staff members were also on board the tragic Mitsubishi CRJ-200ER flight 9N-AME, which was operating out of Saurya Arlines. Witnesses told the Kathmandu Post that the aircraft attempted to take off from the runway’s southern end. But all of a sudden, it dipped to one side, and the tip of one wing struck the ground, setting the plane on fire and sending it falling. Then, on the eastern side of the runway, it fell into a gorge.
