National Youth Day 2023 is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda


National Youth Day will be celebrated on the 12th of January across the country to create awareness amongst the people of India and let them know about the rights in the country. The day generates a positive attitude towards the people and teaches them how to behave in a democratic country.

National Youth Day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Swami was a social reformer, thinker and philosopher. The main aim of celebrating it is to propagate the philosophy and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, for which he lived and worked. He is a great idol for all the Youth of India.

The day is celebrated at schools and colleges, with processions, music, speeches, seminars, youth conventions, Yoga, recitation, presentation, competitions in essay-writing and sports every the 12th of January. Lectures and writings of Swami Vivekananda are remembered to motivate the Youth to contribute to a better India.

History of National Youth Day

The government of India, in 1984, first declared to celebrate the Birthday of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day. Since 1985, on every 12th of January, people of the country have celebrated the day as National Youth Day. The government aims to encourage people to learn about the philosophy of Swamiji. Swamiji’s philosophy could be a great inspiration for the Indian Youth.

The theme for National Youth Day 2023

The theme for National Youth Day 2023 has yet to be announced. The themes for National Youth Day are typically chosen by the government of India. They are intended to inspire and motivate young people to take action in social service, education, and environmental protection. The theme for National Youth Day 2023 will likely be announced closer to the holiday date.

Remembering Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda is one of the most popular monks remembered for his philosophies. He was one of the leading proponents of Vedanta and Yoga in the Western World. On his death anniversary, let us not forget Some of his wise sayings-

• You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself.

• Arise, awake and do not stop until the goal is reached

• The more we come out and do good to others, our hearts will be purified, and God will be in them.

• All the powers in the universe are already ours. We have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.

• God helps those who help themselves.
