Death Threat to UP CM on Social Media
On July 16, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath faced a death threat posted on Twitter by a user named “@rockQureshi.” The cyber-crime police station’s monitoring team promptly registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. The post not only contained abusive language but also issued direct death threats against the Chief Minister. Advocate Kalpna Srivastava brought this threatening post to the authorities’ attention, revealing that some of the abusive content had been deleted by the user afterward.

FIR Registered In the Matter
Upon receiving the complaint, the Cyber Cell’s SHO, Mohammed Muslim Khan, quickly filed an FIR under pertinent sections of the IPC and IT Act, which include intentional insult (IPC 504), criminal intimidation (IPC 507), circulating alarming statements (IPC 505), and Section 66 of the IT Act.
Another Threat Call Received Last Week
An unidentified caller issued a chilling threat to the Mumbai Police on July 12, relating it to the 26/11 terror attack. The call was linked to Seema Haider, a woman who had entered India illegally from Pakistan with her children. The caller demanded her return to Pakistan, prompting an investigation by the Mumbai Police, which later deemed it a hoax.
