At the annual general body meeting held here on Sunday, the decision was made to terminate her membership. Jemimah Rodrigues and her father were contacted by phone and text on Monday for remarks, but no one responded.

“The honorary three-year membership given to Ms Jemimah Rodrigues was revoked pursuant to a resolution passed by the members who attended the general meeting held on October 20, 2024,” Khar Gymkhana president Vivek Devnani confirmed the decision to The Indian Express. Shiv Malhotra, a member of the Khar Gymkhana governing committee, explained the reasons behind it. We learned that the father of Jemimah Rodrigues had a connection with Brother Manuel Ministries. They hosted 35 events and reserved the presidential hall for over a year and a half. “Everyone is aware of what was taking place there,” he claimed.

Conversions are occurring right in front of our eyes, despite the fact that we hear about them all across the nation. There were large screens, dancers, and pricey musical instruments. According to Rule 4A of the constitution and the bylaws of Khar Gymkhana, the organization does not allow for religious activities, Malhotra stated.

Former president of Khar Gymkhana Nitin Gadekar claimed that a staff member told him about the “religious activity.” Malhotra and I went to see it with a couple of other members. We saw that trance music was playing, the room was dark, and a woman was stating, “He is coming to save us.” How Gymkhana could have permitted this in the first place shocked me. After our protest, the decision was made to terminate her membership, Gadekar stated.
