As per the latest updates, parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, are bracing for continued heavy rainfall on Saturday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for Palghar district, indicating the possibility of ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall,’ while an ‘orange alert’ has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts. The civic chief of Mumbai has advised residents to stay indoors and venture out only if necessary, given the forecast of heavy rain in the state capital.

Heavy Rain Alert in Maharashtra:

Furthermore, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of intense rainfall, ranging from heavy to extremely heavy, in isolated locations within the hilly regions of Pune district, Konkan. On Friday, Mumbai encountered heavy rainfall, causing waterlogging in low-lying regions and disrupting transportation within the city and its suburbs. The Colaba and Santacruz IMD observatories recorded substantial rainfall, with 92.2 mm and 115.2 mm respectively between 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.

Telangana Red Alert:

Meanwhile, Telangana is also expected to face heavy rainfall as IMD issued a red alert for the region. The widespread rainfall is attributed to a low-pressure system over South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast along the West Central Bay of Bengal, along with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 kilometers above mean sea level, as reported by the Hyderabad Meteorological Center. In addition, The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ for four districts in Odisha, forecasting ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall.’
