PM Modi Congratulates Manu Bhaker for Historic Bronze Medal Win in 10m Air Pistol at Paris Olympics 2024
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally congratulated Manu Bhaker for winning the first medal in Paris Olympics 2024. “You have made your country proud,” PM Modi said after Bhaker won a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Final on Sunday.
Earlier, on the micro blogging site X, PM Modi congratulated Manu on his achievement saying that it was a historic medal.” He wrote, “Well done, @realmanubhaker, for winning India’s FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats on the Bronze. This success is even more special as she became the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement!”

Manu Bhaker had a fitting answer to this, she dedicated her win for the country and extended her heartfelt gratitude in a post on X, she also thanked the government and PM Modi for supporting her throughout. “Winning this medal is a dream come true, not just for me but for everyone who has supported me. I am deeply grateful to the NRAI, SAI, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Coach Jaspal Rana sir, Haryana government and OGQ. I dedicate this victory to my country for their incredible support and love,” she wrote. Bhaker also thanked the government and PM Modi for their unwavering support and encouragement.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated Bhaker for the win and said that she has made the country proud. “Kudos to @realmanubhaker on winning the first medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. You have sent a wave of euphoria across the nation with your stellar performance. The nation swells in pride at your achievement,” Shah wrote on X.

These sentiments were also expressed by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh where he congratulated Bhaker on her splendid performance. “Congratulations to @realmanubhaker for her exceptional performance and winning the Bronze Medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her victory has brought immense pride to our nation. I wish her the very best for her endeavors ahead,” Singh stated.
With her bronze medal, the 22-year-old Bhaker not only breaks the 12-year medal dry spell for India in Olympics but also became the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal at Olympics.
