The nation is in profound mourning following the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Dr. Singh, who died on Thursday night at 92, was highly regarded across the political spectrum for his remarkable leadership and commitment to public service. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences, referring to Dr. Singh as a leader whose integrity and foresight will be remembered in India’s history.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on his X account, stating, “India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives.”

In another post he wrote, “Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat. We would have extensive deliberations on various subjects relating to governance. His wisdom and humility were always visible.
In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji, his friends and countless admirers. Om Shanti.”

Rahul Gandhi’s tribute

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, stated that Singh guided India with great wisdom and integrity. “His modesty and profound grasp of economics motivated the country.” My sincere sympathies to Mrs. Kaur and her family. I have lost a teacher and advisor. “Countless admirers will cherish his memory with great pride,” he stated.

Ministers visit to pay last tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the home of his predecessor Manmohan Singh located at 3, Motilal Nehru Marg in New Delhi to honor the memory of the deceased. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister JP Nadda also arrived at Singh’s home to pay their final respects to the former Prime Minister.
After Singh’s passing, the Central government announced a week of mourning and halted all official events. The National Flag was also displayed at half-mast on government structures to commemorate the departed soul.

Dr. Manmohan Singh cremation

The former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, will receive full state honors during his cremation near Rajghat tomorrow, Saturday. The ceremony ceremony will begin after the arrival of his daughter, who lives in the United States. She is anticipated to arrive in Delhi tonight, after which the cremation will occur. Tomorrow morning, his remains will be displayed at the Congress headquarters from 8 AM to 10 AM for public tribute
