Mandi Rains Leave 700 Vehicles Stranded as Highway Blocked, Himachal Faces Road Damage and Landslides
Mandi Rains overnight rainfall led to the blocking of the Kullu-Mandi National Highway near Himachal Pradesh’s Pandoh Dam, leaving around 700 vehicles stranded. Following recent landslides damaging the main road, a temporary connection was established, informed Mandi Superintendent of Police, Soumya Sambasivan.

Himachal Road Damage & Closures:
Mandi-Kullu highway from 6-Miles to 9-Miles faced severe damage due to cloudbursts and landslides, prompting a daily closure from 11 am to 2 pm for repairs, as stated by Mandi Deputy Commissioner, Arindam Chaudhary. Traffic was rerouted via Kamand-Bajaura road. Heavy monsoon rains have triggered landslides and road blockages across Himachal Pradesh, with over 280 roads, including three national highways, being affected.

The India Meteorological Department issued yellow and orange alerts for the state. The Chief Minister emphasized ongoing rescue efforts and the government’s commitment to aid affected families, seeking timely support from the Central government for estimated losses of around Rs 10,000 crore.
