Intensified Search Operation for ‘Man-Eater’ Wolves in Bahraich: 165 Forest Personnel, Drones, and Night Patrols Deployed After Fatal Attacks
In Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, the hunt for the so-called “man-eater” wolves has intensified after the incidents of attack including the fatal one wherein a three-year-old girl was killed. The affected area of 30 to 35 Kilometer was divided into Four Sectors by the Forest Department in collaboration with the Police and District Administration for monitoring and constant search operations. Forestry officers, including senior officials, are involved in this massive exercise with 165 forest personnel participating.

According to Sanjay Pathak the General Manager of the forest department the use of drones to monitor the wolves has been carried out while the cameras have been placed in the region. Four wolves have been captured and the operation is not going smoothly, 90% of the information comes in and is false. Pathak encouraged people to give correct information to the search teams so that they do not get wore out.

Renu Singh, the Chief Conservator of Forest, pointed out the application of the thermal drone for increasing the efficiency of wolf tracking and quick response to the presence of wolves. There have been increase in night patrols and other departments have been working together to ensure that any such event occurs. More to the point, Dr. Khan, an officer from another state playing the role of a wolf expert, has been included in the said mission influence from their behavioral and ecological studies.
These come as counterparts of the raised public concern; people have put the administration into scrutiny for prior inaction.
