Maharashtra Faces Dual Hospital Tragedies: Patient Deaths Spark Investigations into Staff Shortages and Medication Scarcity
In the past 24 hours, twelve patients lost their lives at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. Among the 18 total deaths, four patients were brought in already deceased. Tragically, this includes two premature newborns who each weighed only 1,300 grams. While some officials downplayed the incident, relatives of the deceased patients blamed the hospital’s inadequate facilities and medication shortages.

Investigations Underway
Meanwhile, another hospital tragedy struck Maharashtra as 14 patients, including two newborns, died in Aurangabad, following a recent incident in the Nanded district where 31 patients, including 12 newborns, lost their lives in the past 48 hours. A thorough investigation into these incidents is underway, with concerns raised about staff transfers and shortages of medical personnel and essential medicines in government medical colleges across the state.
