Punjab: Law university in Patiala closed till further orders amid students’ protest against VC
The issue started on Sunday afternoon when students claimed the VC had inspected without permission, despite the fact that parents were not permitted inside the dorm. The students claim that the VC made offensive remarks about their appearance during the visit, which they thought to be unacceptable.
The discussions between angry students and university representatives on Monday ended in a stalemate. No outsider was permitted to enter the university’s grounds, according to the security personnel who had barred the main entrance.

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) has been ordered to close till further notice by its administration. A day before, the students had staged a protest against the vice-chancellor, accusing him of invading the privacy of the female students living in their dorm. The students are still demanding the VC go, and they are not going to give up.
Tuesday marked the start of the third day of the girl students’ protest, with demonstrators erecting a tent and holding a sit-in at the university gate. He has insisted on the VC’s resignation and has not given in.The female students have also appealed for action in a letter to the Bar Association and the Chief Justice of India. A committee has been established by the institution to address student complaints in the meantime. The institution has announced a temporary leave of absence until further orders, allowing students to return home, per the committee’s suggestion.
The students refused to stop their protest even after the institution announced a holiday. Though no police report has been made as of yet, the students are firm in their demands that the VC step down. The administration is working to find a solution to the occurrence, which is the first of its sort at the university.
