Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: CBI Exposes Delayed Response by Police Officer and Alleged Conspiracy Involving Former College Principal
During the hearing in a Sealdah court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revealed gory aspects of the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The agency believes that there is a deeper conspiracy that the college involves some key personae like Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the then principal of the college, and the present officer in charge of Tala thana – Abhijit Mondol.

The CBI has accused Ghosh of being in touch with Mondol, after the crime, and of instructing Mondol on how the probe should be dealt with. Both of them were arrested last week and a Sealdah court has allowed CBI to interrogate them till September 17. The CBI wants to interrogate them together; they are making it appear that their participation was very important to the case.

That is another crucial factor of the investigation, the suggestion that Mondol was late for the crime scene. He was said to have been notified at 10:03 a. m. and yet it was alleged that he only arrived the scene at 11:00 a. m. which is only five minutes drive from the scene. Such a delay has preconditioned people to ask questions, as to how the case was managed and possible cover-ups.

The victim is a doctor who was working during the night shift and stayed in the seminar hall to rest after working for 36 hours, was raped and murdered. The CBI has also covered up Ghosh for offenses related to the delay in the filing of the FIR and probably trying to pass off the murder as a suicide. Moreover, there is one citizen named Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, who has been arrested in connection with the crime committed.
