Latest update on the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case: The family of the murdered trainee doctor accuses the Kolkata Police of serious misconduct. The parents of the victim have accused the authorities of trying to bury the case by hurriedly providing the victim’s body for cremation but for the intervention of the parents they were given an amount of money to keep quiet.

The victim’s father explained how the police would not allow the family to first see the body and even when they took the body for a post mortem; they detained the family at the police station. “When at last the body was given to us a member of the senior rank of the police tried to offer us money and was declined,” he said. Such allegations have provoked people’s anger, thus provoking junior doctors and activists campaigning for justice.

The case destines with the one that took place last month in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in which a 31-year-old trainee doctor was found dead, her body in a semi-naked condition. The main suspect named Sanjay Roy was arrested since the CCTV camera captured him in the scene, and the effected individual was found with his belonging. Some probes conducted showed that :(being a female) the victim was raped before being lynched.
The case, now transferred to the CBI, has precipitated mass protests in West Bengal, junior doctors are on strike and people have come out on a ‘Reverse the Night’ protest march. Mishandling is especially attributed to the police where number of resignations from some senior officials is demanded.
