During the last couple of days, Kolkata police have beefed up the investigation regarding the incident by calling three junior doctors and a housekeeping staff on that shift for questioning. The suspect recently arrested in connection to the crime is a man, despite not being employed by the hospital, but a regular visitor. Further, he attempted to wash off blood that was smudged on his shoe but was found to have blood on it by the police.

The attack has acted as a catalyst to foment tension in West Bengal as junior doctors, interns, and postgraduate residents have gone on a strike for the fourth day running and demanding a magisterial inquiry into the case. Tentative: Hospital services remain closed as the medical profession continues to look for justice for its dead member.
