In a daring daylight robbery , a 12-member gang robbed gold ornaments worth Rs 1.84 crore on national highway in Thrissur, Kerala. On ‘Vishwakarma day’ , September 22, near Peechi in broad daylight , the gang had strategically used three SUV’s to block the car, kidnapping two people who were carrying 2.5 kg of gold and overpowering them in their own car.

The criminals conducted the heist with clinical precision. They chose their quarry near a patch of highway under construction. News of the holdup stunned people living nearby, and heightened concerns about safety on the region’s roads. Following their arrest, the two thieves were released, but not the bounty of gold.
Kerala Police has filed FIR under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and started the process to nab the culprits.

In another robbery incident in South Delhi, three masked men robbed mobile phones worth Rs 2 lakh from a high-end shop after breaking into it. The masked men had entered the shop and within minutes they had decamped with expensive mobile phones. The incidents are yet another case of rising organized criminal activities in the region.
