The chopper that crashed was owned by a private company and had been involved in an incidence in the early part of the year. On May 24 thr week before last, one had to make an emergency landing near Kedarnath due to a technical problem it had which came very close to catastrophe as the aircraft touched the ground just a couple of meters away from a helipad.
This was specifically done on saturday where the IAF was ferrying the damaged helicopter to the Gauchar landing strip for repairs. However, this led to a problem of balance as MI-17 was carrying the comparatively lighter helicopter and the changes in the air pressure. The IAF pilot realizing the possible casualties from it, planning to release the Helicopter near Tharu camp as there is no human settlement in that area.
The next source is from district tourism officer Rahul Chaubey he vouched for the information but said that there were no deaths that occurred in the accident. This he said as he assured the public rescue teams had been dispatched to survey the area.
