Conflict between 2 groups over Mahashivratri preparations in Jharkhand’s Palamu district: 12 injuries
Jharkhand Palamu: Conflict between two groups on Wednesday over Mahashivratri preparations in Jharkhand’s Palamu district resulted in at least 12 injuries. The conflict started on Tuesday after one group was accused of destroying the “Toran Gate,” which was created for the event on Saturday.

The event reportedly took place in Palamu’s Panki village. Conflict broke out between two groups when a traditional decorative hanging called the “Toran Gate” was being built. A fight broke out between the two communities. Both parties started throwing stones at each other shortly after, which prompted the police to step in. The police maintained order, although the situation was still tense.

“The entire Panki administrative block area is under Section 144. An additional deployment from nearby police stations was made in Panki”, according to a senior police official.
The Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Section 144 prohibits the gathering of four or more people in the location of the incident.
A Dode, the deputy commissioner, and Chandan Sinha, the SP, are camping out in Panki.
The fights broke out around 8 am when the Shivratri puja committee members confronted people from other religious community who were allegedly opposed to constructing a gate near the mosque on the road.
