During a cordon and search operation (CASO) conducted by a joint team to find a group of terrorists hiding in the Shivgarh-Assar belt in Doda’s Assar district, an encounter occurred in a densely forested area.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was informed by General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), on the current counterterrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, which includes Doda, according to sources.

Following a brief gunfight between security forces and terrorists in a forest near Patnitop in the nearby Udhampur district, the terrorists crossed into Doda. Officials said that security forces made contact with the terrorists in Udhampur on Tuesday at approximately six o’clock in the evening. About thirty minutes later, the interaction started, and it went back and forth until both parties paused. A cordon was established overnight.

According to sources who spoke to India Today TV, the Election Commission representatives will meet with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Wednesday to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where assembly elections are scheduled to take place shortly.
