Amit Shah Set to Unveil BJP’s Manifesto Today in Jammu, Launches Party’s Campaign for the Crucial Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will unveil the BJP’s vision document for the forthcoming assembly poll in Jammu and Kashmir today. To recap, Shah will release the ‘Sankalp Patra’ (manifesto) at Jammu at 3:30 PM during his two-day visit in the region which is a significant time for the party as it faces challenges following the election process.

Shah’s visit comes when the BJP has had its shares of challenges, which include strikes and cross overs over ticketing. The party is yet to unveil its entire campaign platform, which will be formally launched on Saturday when Shah will address a rally in the Jammu city — the region the BJP has traditionally enjoyed substantial support.
Apart from the Ladakh region, the BJP has more strength in the Jammu region having 11 assembly segments there. Out of these 11 constituencies the BJP managed to win nine during the last 2014 elections, which also formed part of the total of 25 seats that the party secured in the assembly.

Security has been beefed up in all the places Shah is to visit including BJP media center; measures in place are several. ”The party has unveiled fifty one candidates for the ninety-seat state legislative assembly.” The election phases have been scheduled from September 18 to October 1 and BJP campaign will be active with Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other party leaders holding public meetings across the region.
