This incident came hot on the heels of another incident in Kupwara on Wednesday where one soldier and one terrorist met their waterloo while participating in a joint army and JK Police operation. There has been a rise in such incidents in the region and in the battal sector on Tuesday the army foiled another infiltration bid in which a soldier later on died of injuries he sustained from the exchange of gunfire. The regular and lethal skirmishes serve to remind about the enduring fragility and deadly risk inherent to the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
