ISRO is gearing up to launch the SSLV-D3-EOS-08 on August 16, 2024 at 9:19 AM IST The SSLV-D3-EOS-08 mission is an important milestone in India’s space science mission. It is understood that this is the third and final developmental flight of SSLV series, and the second developmental flight, SSLV-D2-EOS-07, was successfully launched in February of 2023. The launch was earlier slated for August 15, however, was postponed to August 16 and will be launched from the first launch pad at Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

As a part of the third mission by ISRO in the year 2024, the SSLV-D3-EOS-08 mission after the PSLV-C58/XpoSat and GSLV-F14/INSAT-3DS in this year intends to enhance the research on microsatellites. It will prove new technologies for future satellites, enrich microsatellite design experience, and connect payload instruments with the microsatellite bus. This mission is very important as it marks the end of the developmental phase of the SSLV which is expected to launch satellites with a payload capacity of up to 500kg to Low Earth Orbit which is around 500km above the surface of the earth.
