8 New High-Speed National Highway Corridors Approved! From Agra-Gwalior to Ayodhya Ring Road
The cabinet on Friday approved eight significant high-speed national highway corridor projects totaling 936 km and an investment of Rs 50,655 crore. According to the government, the nine-state projects will increase connectivity, decrease traffic, boost logistics efficiency, and create almost 4.4 crore mandays of direct and indirect employment.

The construction of additional expressways and access-controlled highways will be the government’s next priority. The cabinet approval, according to PM Modi, “will have a multiplier effect on our economic growth and boost employment opportunities,” in a post on X.

This will cut the distance time in half and the distance by 20%. At an estimated cost of Rs 3,935 crore, the four-lane Ayodhya Ring Road (68 km) will ease traffic on the NH that runs around the city. The Raipur-Ranchi corridor’s 137-kilometer, four-lane, access-controlled Pathalgaon-Gumla segment would be built for a total of Rs 4,473 crore. Similarly, Rs 3,298 crore will be needed to complete the six-lane Kanpur Ring Road project. NHAI would also invest Rs 5,729 crore to construct a 121-kilometer, four-lane Guwahati Ring Road. The construction of an eight-lane elevated Nashik Phata-Khed corridor close to Pune is the other project. The total cost of construction will be Rs 7,827 crore.
As per road transport minister Nitin Gadkari, will shorten the travel times and distances covered by freight vehicles, which is essential to lowering logistical costs. The 88-kilometer, six-lane Agra-Gwalior corridor project, which would augment the current four-lane NH to boost traffic capacity, will be developed at a cost of Rs 4,613 crore, according to I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.Similarly, the Rs 10,247 crore access-controlled highway that runs from Kharagpur to Moregram will have four lanes and be 231 kilometers long. It will provide effective communication between Andhra, Odisha, and West Bengal. For freight vehicles, it will cut down the trip time from the current 9–10 hours to 3–5 hours. The two-kilometer, six-lane Tharad-Deesa-Mehsana-Ahmedabad project will cost Rs 10,534 crore.
