Ghaziabad’s air pollution has been among the worst over the past three days. Out of 243 cities in the nation, Ghaziabad had the worst pollution on Wednesday. The recorded value of the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 275. Ghaziabad has held the title of most polluted city in the nation on previous occasions.

In spite of the worsening air quality, nothing has been done to solve the problem. In response to the circumstance, neither the concerned officials nor any progress has been made at raising the AQI. Greater Noida, meanwhile, came in second place with an AQI of 271. The district’s more than 20 departments, such as the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), the GDA, the Municipal Corporation, and the Transportation Department, are powerless to halt the rising pollution levels.

Although every department asserts that all plans are coordinated with one another, the actual situation on the ground paints a quite different picture. To stop dust from blowing, the Municipal Corporation, GDA (GDA News), and PWD (PWD News) are in charge of spraying water on the roadways in their respective regions.
Despite the department’s statements, dust is flying on the roadways and no spraying is occurring. The district administration and the UPPCB regional officer are discussing the closure of unlawful companies. Illegal industries are still operating in numerous regions, including Loni, Bhopura, and Sahibabad, despite the fact that pollution levels are rising.
The 2024 Winter Action Plan was released by Environment Minister Gopal Rai, with 21 important themes. It is anticipated that the drone program will offer real-time data on the sources of pollution, facilitating prompt intervention and accurate mitigation strategies.
