Farmers of Pune Make ₹2.8 Crore By Selling Tomatoes, Set Higher Target

Amid the increasing prices of tomatoes in the country, farmers from Pune make 2.8 crore by cultivating and selling tomatoes and they set a higher target of making nearly Rs 3.5 crore by selling 4000 crates more.

12 acres of tomato cultivation by farmers till today, cost Rs 770 to 2311 per crate; sold around 17000 crates; in total they make 2.8 crore by selling Tomatoes


 Skyrocketing prices of tomatoes in the country, farmers from Pune claimed to have earned nearly 2.8 crore by tomato cultivation. Eshwar Gayakar with his wife from Junnar Taluka village in Pune did not stop at 2.8 crore. They claimed they have stock of more than 4000 crates which cost nearly Rs 3.5 crores.

Mr Gayakar said that his family is happy with his current earnings. Gayakar said that the blessings of his parents and the hard work of his wife on the farm made that earning possible and everyone in the family is happy by the value of the tomatoes they got.

According to  official reports, after examining the ongoing situation of the market, the Central authority decided to amend the prices of tomatoes. The transition in the price will be applied  from Sunday 16 July , in Lucknow, Delhi, Kanpur, Varanasi, Noida, Patna, Arrah and Muzaffarpur through the National Agriculture Cooperation Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Consumer Cooperative Federation (NCCF).
