Engineering, chemistry students from Tamil Nadu arrested amid running meth lab from home in Chennai

According to The Times of India, the Tamil Nadu Police in Chennai detained seven students for operating a methamphetamine lab at one of their residences. One of these was pursuing an MSc in chemistry, and the other four were graduates of robotics engineering programs. The incident happened in Chennai’s Kodugaiyur neighborhood.

According to the student’s parents, the peers were engaged in academic research when the cops knocked on the door of the purported meth lab on Wednesday. Police investigated and discovered that the seven were using one of the house’s rooms to make meth. The defendants have been taken into custody and placed under arrest.

250 grams of methamphetamine, two cell phones, a chemical weighing machine, jars, test tubes, pipettes, burettes, raw chemicals kept in glass jars, and other equipment were found during a search by Chennai’s Anti-Drug Intelligence Unit (ADIU).

The authorities are looking into the possibility that these kids were providing meth to a bigger criminal organization. Fleming Francis, 21, Naveen, 22, Pravin Pranav, 21, Kishore, 22, Gnanapandian, 22, Arunkumar, 22, and Dhanush, 23 are the names of the accused in this case. Robotics engineering degrees were recently earned by Praveen, Kishore, Naveen, and Dhanush, while Gnanapandian is presently pursuing an MSc in Chemistry. According to the authorities, the other two accused are their acquaintances.
