Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Address Historic Election Rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir After 42 Years, Ahead of Upcoming J&K Assembly Elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to address a public meeting in Doda in Jammu and Kashmir today, the first Prime Minister to address a rally in the State after a span of 45 years. The event is to be a part of Bharatiya Janata Party’s road map strategy to cultivate the upcoming J&K assembly election and will be held at Doda Sports Stadium.

This visit was given much importance by the union minister G Kishan Reddy where he said that it will be the visit of a sitting Prime Minister after 42 years to visit the Doda region. The last prime ministerial visit was in 1982 was the last prime ministerial visit. Mr. Narendra Modi, the star campaigner of BJP, will address the party workers and the people of Jammu and Kashmir and share the BJP’s plan for the State.

It is important for now to say that the elections are planned to be held in three phases more, from the September 18. The Doda region, including Kishtwar and Ramban will go to polls in the first phase. Modi’s rally is believed to increase the prospects of BJP candidates Gajay Singh Rana and Shakti Raj Parihar who are in the fray for Doda and Doda West assembly segments.

The Doda area has also beefed up its security for the event organizing following the latest attack incident at Kishtwar involving terrorists. The rally is conducted in the context of increased conflict, nevertheless, it is guarded by special forces to prevent any multiple catastrophes in the region during this political period.
