ED Seizes Rs 5 Crore in Chhattisgarh: Mahadev Betting App Case; Possible Political Party Funds
On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) confiscated approximately Rs 5 crore in cash in Chhattisgarh, where elections were looming. The cash was allegedly sent from the UAE by the promoters of the Mahadev betting app case. Acting on a tip, the ED arrested a man who had arrived in India from the UAE to deliver the money. It is suspected that this money might have been intended for a political party’s election expenses.

Millions Found in Raipur and Bhilai
The ED found around Rs 3.12 crore in cash inside the man’s vehicle, parked at a hotel in Raipur, and another Rs 1.80 crore was discovered in his hideout in Bhilai. Additionally, the ED is conducting searches on several alleged benami bank accounts associated with the Mahadev app, which collectively hold around Rs 10 crore.

In a related development, the ED recently filed its first chargesheet in the Mahadev app betting case, naming 14 individuals as accused, including the app’s promoters Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal.
