Emirates Dubai-Bound Flight Delayed Due to Smoke at Chennai Airport
A Dubai-bound Emirates flight was delayed at Chennai Airport due to smoke during refuelling, affecting 320 passengers. Firefighters and experts ensured safety.
Dubai-Bound Emirates Flight Experiences Delay at Chennai Airport After Smoke Detected During Refuelling, Affecting Over 300 Passengers
One of the Emirates flights scheduled for Dubai encountered a couple of hours’ delay on September 24 while it was on ground at Chennai International Airport. The incident occurred around 9:40 PM during refuelling, while ground staff noticed smoke emission at the tail part of the airplane. To this they reacted by immediately informing the pilots who in turn closed the engines of the plane to avoid further action. There was likely a fire risk so firefighters were requested to address the situation while technical personnel investigated the source of that smoke.

As to the origin of this information it has not been identified; however all safety checks were performed. This inconvenience affected 320 passengers who were waiting to board the train in the worst way possible. When some inspections were done, the flight took off with 280 passengers on board, although the reason as to why some passengers were not taken on board is still uncertain.

To a similar effect in a related aviation matter, a District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ex Chandigarh has directed Air Mauritius to pay a couple for losses suffered because of a delayed flight. They had both booked return flights to Mauritius back to the UK on the 21st of December 2022 but their return flight was rescheduled which proved to be rather inconvenient for the couple. Consequently, the tribunal ordered Air Mauritius to refund Rs 66,538, which covers the amount for a delayed service.
