The relatively recent find made in Ankleshwar was especially disturbing in that the cocaine was being concealed in gunny bags with legitimate drugs. Whereas the police put the street market value of this seizure in the region of ₹5000 crore, the UN United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) estimates that the same quantity would be worth not more than ₹550 crore in the US market.
Thus, as the tasks of investigation go on, the connections between the drug seizures have appeared more evident. It has also emerged that the cocaine was imported from Dubai to Goa before being processed at the Gujarat plant. The culprits formed a front company; Pharma Solution Services Ltd to facilitate the conveying of both legal and the illegal consignments across states. So far, the authorities have seized 1,289 kg of cocaine and 40 kgs of hydroponic marijuana which together is estimated to cost ₹13,000 crore.
