India has a very good number of historical battlefields of valor, bravery, and sacrifice. With the aim of developing tourism in the places, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently launched the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan-a mobile app which will guide the tourists across the most iconic military locations in the country. From the treacherous heights of Siachen to the dramatic landscapes of Galwan and Longewala, the app is likely to make battlefield tourism accessible and educational for everyone.
Siachen and Galwan: The World’s Highest Battlefield and More
Siachen is regarded as the world’s battlefield with an altitude of more than 20,000 feet above sea level. This is one of the areas where military operations have been done by Pakistani forces against Indian forces under extreme conditions with tough terrain. Thus, it has even become a place that holds an important place in India’s history related to its defense. Thanks to the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan app, this place allows visitors to view the Siachen Base Camp at a height of up to 15,000 feet and gives one an understanding of why it has such strategic significance.
Another important place that the application speaks about is Galwan Valley. In 2020, this far-off valley became a background for the deadliest clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers. The application gives historical accounts of the Galwan conflict so that visitors will get a deep insight into the sacrifice and bravery of Indian soldiers.

Re-establishment of Local Economy and Military History
Encouraged by this concept, the government is trying to promote battlefield tourism so that history and legacy related to India’s armed forces can be preserved while reviving the fortunes of the local economy. The scenic beauty surrounding these battlefields can be enjoyed while one learns about the sacrifices made by the soldiers. This will create a sense of patriotism among tourists while giving an authentic account of India’s defense history.
