Yamuna Water Deluge; Rajghat Submerged

Yamuna water deluge escalates as it reaches the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, remains of Rajghat submerged in Delhi, worsening the flooding crisis in the city.

Despite the gradual decline in water levels of the Yamuna River, which reached a historic peak yesterday, numerous parts of Delhi remain inundated. In response, the Delhi government took precautionary measures by closing schools, colleges, crematoriums, and water treatment facilities due to the extensive flooding caused by the overflowing Yamuna. Additionally, the situation has led to the Rajghat Submerged, adding to the challenges faced by the national capital.

Yamuna levels recede, forecast improves:

The water levels of the Yamuna River measured 208.46 meters at 6 am, showing a slight decrease compared to the previous night’s measurement of 208.66 meters. According to the forecast by the Central Water Commission, the water levels are expected to continue declining and may reach 208.30 meters by 1 pm today.

ITO, Rajghat Submerged:

The regions of ITO and Rajghat remain submerged due to the damage caused to a regulator near Indraprastha by the Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Department. This has further worsened the already critical situation in those areas.

Supreme Court Flooded as Rain Toll Rises:

The floodwaters reached the Supreme Court, situated in Delhi’s central Tilak Marg area. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi Cabinet Minister, stated that the government has instructed the chief secretary to prioritize and address the damage to the regulator, aiming to resolve the issue promptly.

Punjab and Haryana have also experienced heavy rainfall and are actively engaged in relief efforts. As per the Haryana government’s data, the number of deaths due to rain-related incidents has risen to 16. Earlier, the state of Haryana had reported 10 deaths, while Punjab had reported 11 casualties.

As the weather conditions have improved over the past three days, authorities in both states have intensified their relief operations. In Punjab, a total of 14 districts have been impacted, while in Haryana, seven districts have been affected.
