Delhi Police Took 1600 Into Custody Only To Catch 5: People Applaud Their Efforts

In one of the biggest news in Delhi, the Delhi Police took 1600 people in custody only to catch 5 robbers who had carried out a robbery in broad daylight. The police also seized about 2000 vehicles during the night patrols for the same. Among those arrested are Usman, his cousin Irfan, Anuj Mishra, Kuldeep, Sumit, Pradeep and Bala.

What is the robbery these 7 men were caught for?

The incident had taken place in broad daylight and the five robbers were responsible for looting two men of ₹2,00,000.

This incident happened in a cab when two people by the names Patel Sajan Kumar and Jigur Patel were traveling to Gurgaon. Four men in two bikes blocked the car and took out pistols and forced the two victims to give their cash.

This incident put into question the law and order situation in Delhi.  The 1.5-kilometer-long tunnel that connects New Delhi with Sarai Khan and Noida is where this incident took place and the ability of the robbers to carry out this robbery has got the AAP government fuming.

How has the government reacted?

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted regarding this incident, which said-

“LG shud resign. Make way for someone who can provide safety n security to the people of Delhi. If Central govt is unable to make Delhi safe, hand it over to us. We will show u how to make a city safe for its citizens.”

He further said that the meeting called by LG was just a formality and they could do a much better job of keeping the city safe.

The AAP government has control over everything in Delhi except land, police and law and order. This division of powers in Delhi has been highlighted in Article 239AA of the Indian Constitution, under Part VIII.

In a recent ruling, the Supreme Court ruled that the Delhi government does have control over all services in the national capital, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), but land, police, and law and order still remain under the Centre.
