Delhi Airport To Get India’s First ‘Air Train’ By 2027, To Connect IGI’s Distant Terminals | Details
The design, development, finance, operation, and transfer (DBFOT) process will be used by DIAL, according to the tender document, to build an elevated cum at-grade APM system at Delhi International Airport. APM’s goal is to provide Tl and T3/2 with consistent, fast, and smooth communication throughout a 7.7-kilometer route that goes through Aerocity and Cargo City.
By the end of 2027, it will be simple to go between Terminals 3 and 2 at Delhi Airport and Tl on the other side. A tender was released by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) to construct an automated people mover (APM), or air train, with four stops: T2/3, T1, Aerocity, and Freight City. The alignment for this 7.7-kilometre route has been set by the DIAL, which GMR supports. When it’s ready, there won’t be any need for DTC buses to connect these two far-off destinations. The airport operator is expected to receive bids in October and November for what will be India’s first air train at an airport, according to sources cited by TOl.

As per the announcement made by the aviation ministry in Modi 2.0, DIAL would not be able to receive any development fees until the project is finished. Sources anticipate that the IGIA air train will cost less than Rs 2,000 crore, while the exact cost is uncertain as it has been left up to bidders to evaluate and price.
