Nominations for the four primary DUSU positions—President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary—have been submitted by 87 candidates this year. After initial examination, it was discovered that 31 of these 87 candidates are female, indicating a significant representation of women in the contest for student.

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) have teamed together and declared their candidacies in terms of politics. The alliance is fielding a third-year Law Centre-2 student named Saavy Gupta for President and a first-year student named Ayush Mondal for Vice President. Anamika K, a first-year MA political science student, has submitted her nomination for Joint Secretary, and Sneha Agarwal, another first-year law student, is standing for Secretary.

Both the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have not yet made their official candidacies known. TNN reported that the ABVP declared it “will officially announce candidates contesting in the DUSU elections on Friday.” By this Friday, the final announcements should be made.
