Delhi Traffic Advisory: Several Roads To Be Closed On Aug 13 For Independence Day Rehearsals
With the festive season around the corner and people prepping up for the Independence Day, the Delhi Traffic Advisory has come up with a traffic plan for Tuesday, August 13, 2024. In the advisory issued in connection with the rehearsal of the I-Day event, the major roads closed and diversions particularly around Red Fort have been highlighted.

People are encouraged to deliberate their travel because major roads around Red Fort would be closed at 4. 00 am to 10. 00 am.
People using the road are encouraged to plan and organize themselves well to avoid inconveniences resulting from the delay. All the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) are urged to ensure that they stock essential commodities before 10. 00 midnight August 12, 2024 in order to allow for free access to basic needs during the time the road will be closed.
Restricted Roads On 13 August –
In order to facilitate the rehearsal there will be restriction of movement on several of the major thoroughfares around the Red fort during the following times. The general public will have no access to the areas; the only allowed vehicles will be those with special authorisation permits. The following roads will be restricted :
- Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail.
- Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover (Salimgarh Bypass).
- S P Mukherjee Marg from H C Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.
- Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort.
- Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail.
- Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.
- Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT.
- Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.
Recommended Routes –
Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, SPM Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road, and Rani Jhansi Road are some alternative routes for traveling between the north and south of the national capital. NH-24, Nizamuddin Khatta, Barapula Road (under AIIMS Flyover), Ring Road, Mathura Road, Subramania Bharti Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Prithviraj Road, and Safdarjung Road are recommended routes along the east-west corridor.
