Delhi Govt Increases Circle Rates for Agricultural Land, Responds to Farmer Demand with Varied District Rates

The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has unveiled a decision to raise the circle rates of agricultural land in the city and areas near the Yamuna barrage. Notably, the highest rate, set at Rs 5 crore per acre, will apply to South and New Delhi districts.

Kejriwal’s Agricultural Circle Rate Revisions:

This proposal, recently endorsed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, marks the first adjustment in agricultural land circle rates since 2008, according to Revenue Minister Atishi. It now awaits approval from Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.The Kejriwal administration has sought higher circle rates for agricultural land since 2013 and 2015, but Covid-19 hindered the process. Now, the government has reinstated the rates, categorizing them into Green Belt Village, Urbanized Village, and Rural Village, differing across districts.

Farmers long-standing demand:

Presenting the proposal on Monday, Revenue Minister Atishi gained prompt approval from Kejriwal, who expressed satisfaction in addressing the farmers‘ long-standing demand. He assured continuous efforts for their benefit.

Varied District Circle Rates in Delhi:

At a press conference, Atishi highlighted the decision’s significance for farmers. New circle rates vary across districts: Rs 5 crore per acre for New Delhi and South districts, Rs 3 crore for North, West, North-West, and South West districts, Rs 2.5 crore for Central and South East districts, and Rs 2.25 crore for Shahdara, North-Eastern, and Eastern districts.
