AAP MLA Atishi will take oath as Delhi’s third woman CM on Saturday, with two new ministers likely to join her Cabinet ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Atishi to Be Sworn In as Delhi’s Third Woman Chief Minister; Cabinet Expansion with Two New Ministers Expected
Atishi, an AAP MLA, is going to be the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi as she will be administered the oath on Saturday. This massive increase follows the current AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s suggestion of her as his replacement during a meeting held on Tuesday. With this, Atishi two new ministers will be sworn in her ministers which indicates a new change in the Delhi government may be reshuffle.

Atishi is expected to take up major responsibilities in the Delhi administration in the next few months while she is already holding several significant positions in the government as of now including education, finance, and PWD portfolios. The decision has been sent to the President Ram Nath Kovind through Delhi’s LG Vinai Kumar Saxena and AAP has laid down September 21 as an official date for the swearing-in ceremony of President Droupadi Murmu.

The Delhi Cabinet we currently comprises of seven members and new entries are expected soon to be coupled with Atishi. That said, since the Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February next year, it appears that the time for the aforementioned ministers will be short, and they won’t be able to implement significant changes. There are speculations over the new ministers’ responsibilities, their tasks or assignments and portfolios which include Vishal Ravi, Jarnail Singh, Somnath Bharti.
The new CM will have to demonstrate her government’s majority during a special Assembly session scheduled on September 26-27.
