Rains brought the national capital to a standstill on Wednesday evening as major areas of the city were filled with water. Streets were choked with Immovable Traffic, people got stuck in traffic as roads literally began to flood. The rains compelled the weather office to place Delhi under its ‘areas of concern’ in the National Flash Flood Guidance Bulletin. The department asked people to postpone their movements, keep their windows and doors shut, and not to go outside. Next 24 hours IMD has warned heavy rains and issued red alert for the national capital Delhi. In response, Delhi govt has declared that all schools are closed today mainly due to present weather.”
Government, Private School Closed-
The Delhi government, aided and all the recognised unaided private schools that come under the Delhi government were directed to be closed on Thursday, August 1. Alluring to very heavy rain in the evening 31 July 2024 and waterlogging in several areas of Delhi, heavy rain predicted for 1 August 2024, all GOVT GOVT AIDED AND RECOGNISED UNAIDED PRIVATE SCHOOLS OF DELHI shall remain CLOSED on 1 August 2024 Thursday Old Secretariat, Directorate of Education claimed.
10 flights that were due to land at the Delhi airport had to be redirected.
As a result of the bad weather the flow of air traffic was disrupted. Ten flights that were supposed to land at the Delhi airport were either rescheduled or rerouted to Jaipur and Lucknow because of the bad weather. Airlines also predicted that flights were likely to be more affected in the future.
The weather was also accompanied by storm; flooding and a house that has been destroyed in Sabji Mandi area of north Delhi. Though specifics of it were still to emerge, the Delhi Fire Services said the house was located near the Ghanta Ghar near Robin Cinema. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena said that he has directed officials to stay on high alert.

After sharing a post on X(formally Twitter), he wrote saying, “Have cautioned all officers to be wary as there is rainfall in Delhi today.” Besides, to cause least disruption to the public at large, they are directed to focus on the areas that are flood prone such as coaching institutes fundamentally.
