Exit polls predict BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years, but AAP dismisses claims, and Congress hopes for a better performance.
Delhi Exit Polls Predict BJP’s Comeback After 27 Years, AAP Rejects Forecast, Congress Eyes Better Performance
The national capital’s political atmosphere has heated up as the exit poll predictions foretell the possible return of the Bharatiya Janata Party to power in Delhi after 27 long years. The significant setback to the Aam Aadmi Party and congress that could see an improved performance bring politics to the streets, and political leaders of major parties reacted with a mix of confidence, rejection, and caution as they await the final results.
BJP Confident of a Comeback
BJP leaders expressed great optimism about winning after the declaration of exit polls. Party MP Manoj Tiwari said that the actual results would be even better than predicted. “BJP is coming to power in Delhi. It is our homecoming, and I thank the people of Delhi for their support,” he said.
Minister of State for Transport Harsh Malhotra echoed this sentiment, stating that the people of Delhi have voted for change. He is confident that the BJP will form the government with an absolute majority. Meanwhile, BJP’s New Delhi Assembly candidate Parvesh Verma declared, “The lotus will bloom on February 8. We will ensure good governance, a clean Yamuna, and employment opportunities in Delhi.”
Further attacking AAP, BJP leader Satish Upadhyay said, “Jhadu ke tinke bikhar gaye hain aur kamal khil raha hai.” AAP has always relied on blame games and lies, but the people of Delhi have rejected them.
AAP Dismisses Exit Polls as Inaccurate
However, AAP had thoroughly dismissed the exit poll results and termed it to be very unreliable. AAP’s candidate for Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bharadwaj said that earlier also, the exit polls have underrated AAP’s performance. “In 2013 and 2015, the exit polls were saying that we would lose but we won. Even in 2020, they predicted less number of seats for us and we emerged with a landslide victory. This time, again the same is repeating in 2025,” he claimed.

He further alleged that the BJP used to silence the dissent. “BJP creates an atmosphere of fear so that people hesitate to speak out. Our actual vote share always turns out to be higher than what exit polls predict,” he added.
Congress Hopes for a Better Show
Despite facing back-to-back setbacks in the last two Delhi Assembly elections, Congress is upbeat about its prospects. According to party leaders, change is going to come from those who are disillusioned with AAP and BJP.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, who is contesting from the New Delhi constituency, said they knew about the exit poll predictions but still had hope. “People of Delhi are fed up with AAP’s governance and want change. We are expecting a better result than what the polls suggest,” he said.
Exit Polls Indicate BJP’s Lead
According to various pollsters, BJP is expected to regain power in the Delhi capital. The opposition Congress is likely to make a few entry seats alone, while AAP would lose its dominance, as per most polls.
