Complaint Against Rahul: BJP Women MPs Demand Action for Disrespectful Gesture
In a recent development, female MPs from the BJP have formally raised concerns regarding an alleged incident involving Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP. The BJP women MPs have lodged a Complaint Against Rahul with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, asserting that Rahul Gandhi blew a ‘flying kiss’ in the lower house. They consider this act as disrespectful to women MPs and have called for strict action against him.

The signed complaint, led by union minister Shobha Karandlaje and other women MPs, characterises Gandhi’s behaviour as “indecent” and accuses him of making inappropriate gestures towards Smriti Irani while she addressed the House. The complaint not only highlights the demeaning of women members’ dignity but also raises questions about the prestige of the esteemed institution.

Shobha Karandlaje expressed the gravity of the situation in her conversation with a news agency. She emphasised that such conduct is unprecedented and intolerable. Another BJP MP and union minister, Darshana Jardosh, echoed similar sentiments, emphasising that the flying kiss gesture contradicts the cultural values upheld in the Parliament.
The incident occurred as Rahul Gandhi returned to the Parliament after being reinstated as a Lok Sabha MP. During his departure from the Lok Sabha, he allegedly made a gesture that reminded many of his controversial actions during a no-confidence motion against the Modi government in 2018.

In response, Smriti Irani, without explicitly naming Rahul Gandhi, criticised his behaviour during her speech on the no-confidence motion. She deemed his action as misogynistic and lacking in dignity, reflecting poorly on his family, party, and their attitudes towards women.
