Vande Bharat Express, en route from Tirupati to Secunderabad, halted due to ticketless passenger’s restroom smoke triggering alarms. Unforeseen disruption aboard flagship train.
Vande Bharat Express is once again in the headlines, but this time it’s not due to its renowned speed, encounters with stones, or clashes with livestock. The focus has shifted to an incident involving a ticketless passenger who succumbed to the allure of a cigarette during the journey.
The train was en route from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to Secunderabad when this incident unfolded. Having crossed Gudur, the destination was still several hours away. A passenger had managed to board the train without a valid ticket and had taken refuge within one of the train’s restrooms. It seemed he might have successfully completed his fare-free journey, but an irresistible craving for a smoke dramatically altered the course of events.

Unaware of the presence of fire alarms strategically positioned within the flagship train, the passenger decided to light up a cigarette within the confines of the restroom. Little did he know that this seemingly innocuous action would trigger a series of responses – the fire alarms were set off, and an automatic fire extinguisher promptly activated, releasing aerosol throughout the compartment.
As panic spread among passengers, individuals reached for the emergency phone situated within the compartment to alert the train guard. Consequently, the train was brought to a halt near Manubulu station. Swift action by the Railway Police followed, involving the use of a fire extinguisher to break the restroom’s window pane. Inside, they found the unsuspecting smoker, whose impromptu smoking session had inadvertently caused the train to come to a standstill, prompting an extensive rescue operation.
The smoker, responsible for the unforeseen disruption, was apprehended at Nellore for further legal proceedings. After the situation was rectified, the train resumed its scheduled journey.

In an unexpected turn of events, a simple cigarette craving snowballed into an unforeseen disruption, marking a noteworthy incident aboard the Vande Bharat Express.
