Chaos in Rajya Sabha Over BJP’s Allegations of Congress-Soros Links, House Adjourned

Rajya Sabha adjourned after BJP alleges Congress-Soros links, Kharge dismisses claims as distractions

Chaos in Rajya Sabha as BJP questions Sonia-Soros links, Congress accuses diversion, House adjourned

The Rajya Sabha witnessed uproar today as BJP president JP Nadda raised allegations of links between former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and US billionaire George Soros. The session was marked by sharp exchanges, leading to an adjournment.

Mr. Nadda accused Congress of being influenced by Mr. Soros, a philanthropist known for funding global causes. “The country wants to know the relationship between Sonia Gandhi and Soros, who donates billions to destabilize the nation,” he said.

The BJP chief also defended Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar amid criticism from the Opposition. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier accused the Chairman of bias, claiming he was not allowed to speak in the House. In a press conference, Mr. Kharge criticized Mr. Dhankhar, sparking a strong response from BJP leaders.

Mr. Nadda condemned Mr. Kharge’s remarks, calling them “objectionable and condemnable.” He emphasized that questioning the Chairman’s decisions is a violation of parliamentary rules. “The Chairman’s rulings cannot be questioned. Doing so amounts to contempt of the House,” he said.

The BJP president also referred to Congress’s social media posts that allegedly mocked the Rajya Sabha Chairman, calling it an “attempt to demean a constitutional post.” He criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for filming Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee’s mimicry of Mr. Dhankhar after Opposition MPs were suspended.

Mr. Nadda claimed Congress was using the controversy to divert attention from important issues. He questioned Mr. Kharge’s commitment to democratic processes, alleging that he had refused to participate in meetings called by the Chair.

Responding to the allegations, Mr. Kharge dismissed them as a distraction. “They are trying to divert attention. The Leader of the House says no one can question the Chairman’s decisions. This is not democracy,” he said.

The heated exchange resulted in chaos, forcing the Chairman to adjourn the session.
