Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is arrested in connection with a ₹371 crore corruption case that has significant political implications, coming just months ahead of state elections. Other top leaders of his party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), are also implicated in the alleged scam involving the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation, established during Mr Naidu’s tenure. The investigation has also raised questions about the involvement of Mr Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, who serves as TDP’s general secretary.

YSRCP’s Political Advantage

The case revolves around the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for skill development for unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party, in power, refrained from celebrating Naidu’s arrest but is likely to benefit politically from it.
