Budget 2025: Priorities for Middle-Class Relief, Manufacturing Growth, and Education Reform

RSS urges Budget 2025 to prioritize middle-class relief, SME growth, national manufacturing policy, and increased education funding.

RSS Calls for Middle-Class Tax Relief, SME Growth, National Manufacturing Policy, and Increased Education Funding in Budget 2025

Major concerns of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its ancillary organizations toward Budget 2025 include bringing relief to the middle class on the economic front, boosting homegrown manufacturing units, promoting SMEs, and enhancing education allocations. According to the Sangh Parivar, economic policies not only need to promote growth and revenue generation but also ensure stability in the kitty of the middle class, conserve local industries, and strengthen PSUs.

Ease the Financial Burden on Middle Class

The RSS has highlighted the growing burden of expenditure on middle-class families, calling for tax relief and inflation control. With increasing health care, educational, and everyday expenses, a demand for more tax deductions in essential services arises. In addition, wage stagnation has become an economic pressure on salaried professionals as well as the self-employed. It is expected that this group will receive direct benefits in the form of reduced income tax liabilities and efforts to curb inflation, thus creating economic stability for millions of households.

Empowerment of SMEs and Boosting the Manufacturing Sector

Organisations like Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) and Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) have repeatedly made cases for similar policies that promote indigenous businesses while reducing dependency on the MNCs. On top of this, the demands for easy and higher access to credit, reduction in compliance burdens, and PLIs, particularly for SMEs, stand out.

The Sangh Parivar has also called for increased tariffs on Chinese products such as umbrellas and footwear to protect domestic manufacturers. LUB has urged the government to rationalize GST rates for job work, offer amnesty schemes for minor GST violations, and provide relief through lower reverse charge mechanism (RCM) rates. There is also a push for customs duty incentives for businesses adopting sustainable practices and simplifying import regulations for essential raw materials.

SJM’s co-convener Ashwini Mahajan said that at least 50% of the total PLI schemes should be directed towards SMEs to ensure their growth and sustainability. The organization has also called for a comprehensive national manufacturing policy to safeguard local businesses and industries from excessive dependence on foreign imports.

Greater Investment in Education and Skill Development

The RSS and its affiliates have always focused on education reforms that would be deeply rooted in the history, culture, and values of India. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the students’ wing of the RSS, has been pressing the government to increase funding for rural education and skill development programmes and higher education institutions.

The call for regulation also follows to overrule foreign influence into academia aligning with the goals of nationalist education. The other recommendation by the Sangh is the establishment of a central authority that will oversee educational institutions and its aim towards implementing one uniform policy, as well as better coordination in it.

While Budget 2025 is on its way, these suggestions present RSS’s vision for a balanced growth economy where growth is accompanied by social and economic well-being and local industries, small businesses, and the middle class are treated nicely.
